Academy 2003 article in evo

evo journalists Jethro Bovington and David Yu have both entered the 2003 Academy and are being followed by articles in the magazine.

If people are interested, I'll scan it in and post it here.

UPDATE: There wasn't any interest, but I posted it anyway ;-). See below...

The article is five pages. This is scanned without permission so please don't go using it for anything that could get me in trouble! evo is without a doubt the best car magazine there is, so if you enjoy this then you should think about subscribing.

The pages are quite large JPEGs, around 150 - 200Kb, so may take a little time to download on a slow dial-up connection.

Bought a helmet

Bought a helmet from Grand Prix Racewear today - an Arai GP5K. Very early for 2004, but I'm going to Spa on a track day (in my Boxster) next weekend and decided that I may as well buy the right helmet now.

Fixed comments bug

One person actually tried to post a comment! Unfotunately, I'd got a bit carried away with my access control lists so it didn't work. Should be fixed now though.

Probably need to wait another three months before anyone tries it again.

Good luck with the build, i wimped out and got the factory to build my SV.
Wish i had the dosh to get an academy car too. Maybe we'll track day ours next year, once we've had some time to get used to it.

Second payment due in a few weeks

Dropped a line to Caterham Midlands to see if I could get some more info on the current delivery date. They said to expect my second deposit letter mid-June, which hopefully means I'll be on track for a beginning of September delivery (approx 10 weeks).

There are now 4 people who have entered the 2004 Academy active on the Lotus Seven Club Forums which is proving a good way to exchange information and pass the weeks and months.

I'm hoping to get along to the 2003 (Group Two) Academy Sprint at Goodwood on 28th June and see what I'm in for next year.

Spa-Francorchamps Track Day

Just got back from two days at the Spa-Francorchamps F1 circuit. Amazing to drive my own car (Boxster 2.7) on the track, although I couldn't get to the point where I was really pushing the car to its limits - because of my own skill and sympathy for my (uninsured) car. Managed to go into Eau Rouge at around 105, seeing just under 120 at the end of the straight with the top down.

Lots of Sevens around, including a 2003 Academy competitor. It would be great to go back when I get the Seven and be happy to push it harder.
